Ko wai au?

I had originally wanted to do a tukutuku panel for one of my self-portrait pieces, but in beginning my research on tukutuku I realised it’s a really in-depth study and I probably wouldn’t be able to do such studies in the short time frame I now have.

Never the less, I found a few tukutuku patterns that I really like and incorporated them into my work.

At first I was fustrated with the end piece, because of the lines being out of place and messy, but when i took a step back I actually really liked the ‘abstractness’ of it. I like that the black background elevates the the other colours.

I think the real I reason like it is because it has a lot more meaning  than my other pieces.

Considering this as one of my finals
